He joined the station’s weather team as the original Daybreak Meteorologist and remained with Daybreak for four years. From there, he moved to KPLC-TV Channel 7  based in Lake Charles, Louisiana. There, he served as the Chief Meteorologist for a period of three years. While working in Lake Charles, Mark finished second in the Associated Press Awards for “Best Weathercast” in 1992. In 1993, he was awarded First Place in the Louisiana A.P. for Best Weathercast.
